Beta Assembly 🏭

Good news! Beta is rolling off of the assembly line. We're expecting an update on tariffs the first week of may and we'll be shipping units to customers shortly after.

1. Everything in the 1st photo will be included in Beta Phase #1. The mask, housing, two straps, carbon-activated packet to reduce the smell of the packaging, and breathable fabric bag.

2. This is the last stage in the production line, final assembly and packaging.

3. These molds hold the two silicone halves together of the housing while the adhesive sets. We use silicone for it's battery safety qualities, softness, and flexibility. The factory will have hundreds of these built when we begin mass production.

Audio Testing 🔊

Visiting the R&D department of our bone-conduction drivers was incredibly eye opening. We spent an entire day scientifically measuring the frequency response of the drivers we selected and applying equalizer settings to ensure that the sound comes out well balanced even through the foam.

Battery Manufacturing 🔋

While touring the area we visited our battery manufacturer for the first time. This factory is 85% automated and creates over 800,000 batteries per day.

1. Raw ingredients. In this case the "positive" material is being applied to sheets of metal and rolled up to get ready for cutting and processing.

2. Assembly. This shows an automated machine that combines the "positive" and "negative" ingredients into one battery cell. This is later trimmed, activated using large ovens, and protection circuits are added.

3. Testing. Every battery goes through one full charge and discharge cycle. It's mandatory that 25 batteries from each batch goes though the full suite of testing including overcharge, low-pressure, fire, puncture, compression, and more.

Batteries are the heaviest component within Bía. We regularly discuss options with our manufacturers about different ways to reduce the weight of the batteries while still keeping high capacity.
